We read the label, so you know what you’re actually taking.
The number on the front of a supplement is often not what you get. We take each product’s label, work out the real amount per daily dose and check it against official reference intakes, authorised claims and legal and safe upper limits. Our rankings compare products on that, with one published score.
How we check products
- 01 · Read
The label, not the front
We take dose, form, servings and other ingredients from the label: the manufacturer’s page or the label photos on the shop listing. Every product in our rankings links to its label source and shows when we checked it.
- 02 · Convert
The real daily dose
Compound weights become the active amount (1,000 mg of magnesium bisglycinate gives at most about 140 mg of magnesium), and herb equivalents become the actual extract. We set that against the EU reference intake, the dose behind the authorised claim and the upper limits.
- 03 · Score
One published score
Rankings use the same five criteria everywhere: real dose 35%, form and quality 20%, honest label 20%, additives 15%, everyday use 10%. Each ranking explains how it applies them. Products whose label figures are missing or impossible are left out.
- 04 · Price
Cost per dose: not yet
Price is not part of the score yet, and we don’t publish prices. We will add cost per daily dose once we have price data we are allowed to show (shop feeds or Amazon’s product API).
How we make money
NutriMetrics is free to read. In the Spanish edition, links to Amazon.es are affiliate links (Amazon Associates): if you buy after clicking, Amazon may pay us a commission. You pay the same price. Links to Amazon.de in the German edition don’t earn us anything yet. The English edition has no shop links yet.
We include products whether or not we can earn from them, and pages with affiliate links say so at the top. The affiliate disclosure has the details.
Affiliate disclosure- Rankings follow our published score, never commission.
- No paid placements or sponsored rankings.
- Brands can’t pay to be reviewed or to change our guides.
Editorial policy
Every guide names its author and shows when its evidence was last checked. We are not doctors, so we don’t give our own medical opinions: every health statement links to an official source — the Great Britain or EU register of health claims, the NHS, the Food Standards Agency and its Committee on Toxicity, the MHRA, EFSA, or a national authority such as AESAN (Spain) or BfR (Germany) — and to systematic reviews where they exist.
The English edition is written for UK readers first: where rules in Great Britain differ from the EU (and from Northern Ireland, which follows EU food law), we say so. We only use health claims in the wording authorised on the GB and EU registers, we never claim that a supplement treats, cures or prevents a disease, and we say so when the evidence is weak. None of our guides is described as medically reviewed unless a named professional has reviewed it.

Team
Three editions, each for its own market
Each edition follows its market’s rules, shops and search terms rather than being a translation. The English edition puts UK rules and NHS advice first; our product checks so far cover products sold in Spain (Amazon.es) and Germany (Amazon.de).
